Joining the Blog Roll

UPDATE: 9-13-06 (6:15 pm ET) We're looking at options for posting the blog roll in a collapsible table, a menu format or a drop-down .... Check out Bernie's comment below for his suggestion!
----------------------------------------------

Until we have a hosted image and script, you may add the blog roll to your sidebar this way:

1. Select a sidebar image/banner of your choosing (if you choose ....). Right click on the image and save it on YOUR computer. (Remember where you saved it ....)

2. Add the image to your blog sidebar. Link this image to YOUR tribute post. If you choose not to add an image, add a text link to your tribute post!

At the bottom of your tribute page, please add a link (2,996 Blog Roll) to
http://2996.blogspot.com/ . The goal is to keep YOUR tribute linked/easily accessible for others from your main page. The blog roll will be one way to keep tributes (and us) "linked" together.

3. Beneath the image (if you've added one) in your sidebar, add a header "2,997 BLOG ROLL."

Beneath this header, add the blog roll script:

Remove the 8 brackets [ and ] before adding to your sidebar.

[<]script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://rpc.blogrolling.com/display.php?r=2eef327827d2c8a925c1c9ce08cb218b"[>][<]/script[>]

Example:

Honoring Lynn C. Goodchild

2,996 BLOG ROLL
blog roll will be
generated
alphabetically
when script
is added.

NOTE: You may want to join www.blogrolling.com to be eligible for reciprocal linking .... It's free and easy.

4. Send an email via the contact link in the sidebar when you are ready to be added!

Thanks to Ponder for the small banner and to Lonnie and Tracy for the script assistance!

THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED WHEN/AS INFO IS AVAILABLE ....

I have the blogroll installed on my blog. Please add me to the list.

Winged Emotion
Link to my tribute is
http://www.wingedemotion.com/?p=672

Also, to put the code for the blogroll on your page just paste this....

[<]script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"
src="http://rpc.blogrolling.com/display.php?
r=2eef327827d2c8a925c1c9ce08cb218b"[>][<]/script[>]mo
with instructions for the people to remove the [ and ] from the code.... that will work fine.

Having a blogroll for this project is an excellent idea. I'd also like to be added to it; I've already got it installed on my page.

I made a couple of small pixel banners for both the 2996 project and the blogroll. Feel free to steal them if you like them.

I have a question about the blogroll as well. I would prefer to move it off the front page at some point - but have no idea how. Do I just move the code to the post itself instead of the template sidebar?

I tried to load the script in a post -- HTML and java are not compatible!!! Wish there were a way ....

What I'm going to do is load my blogroll in a collapsible table, a menu format or a drop-down. I've not had time to experiment yet ....

I'll post the scripts on the blog.

Thanks for the images/banners --- I'll copy and add them to the 2996 blog roll.

I've written a tribute to a friend who died in the WTC, but I didn't sign up for the project. Can I join the blog roll? Great idea to let us all come together to share memories and tributes.

I'm sending you an email with my information.

I made a request at the Yahoo Group site to be added... but don't see a link to me on the blogroll. I've added the blogroll code to my site - www.medializzy.com --- am adding the image to my tribute posts.

Thanks for everything!

Is this blog roll open to anyone who wrote tributes for the victims of 9-11? Regardless of the writer's religious or political beliefs?

Are you going to screen and evaluate tributes on the blog roll like they are doing over at the yahoo group and on the new tribute site?

If you are doing any of this, remove my tribute.

Those killed on 9-11 came from all creeds and credos. Nobody "screened" the victims. Why is someone screening those who wr0te the tributes to them?????????

I also hope you are NOT going to ask for money.

I made a small scroll screen for the blogroll, otherwise it will be too long for the sidebar with so many members.

go to plancksconstant.org to see it.

Instructions are at

scrolling blogroll

You can take anything you like with or without attribution, doesn't matter to me.

Dear ASKING QUESTIONS:

This blog roll is open to ANY blogger who wrote (and maintains) a TRIBUTE to a VICTIM of 9-11-01, as stated in the sidebar.

Neither tributes nor writers will be screened or evaluated for inclusion on the blog roll.

I will visit sites as often as possible to check links and to see if the tribute is still available online -- and of course, to continue reading all tributes.

AT NO TIME will there be requests for donations for what is done willingly, wholeheartedly and freely!

I would like to be included in the blogroll please.

I have two tributes up at http://82ndchairborne.blogspot.com

I'll try and put the code in my site as well, I've had trouble doing so with other blogrolls though. I'll certainly link to here though!

Please remove me from the blogroll. Too much fighting going on about something that was supposed to have been about the victims.

I'm listed at Techie Vampire

Although I've received a few requests to remove blog links from the blog roll (due to the recent discord on the Project message board), I sincerely ask those who want to distance themselves from the memorial project to reconsider leaving the blog roll.

The project IS and HAS BEEN worthwhile -- a noble venture in which I proudly participated. And on that note -- let me emphasize: "I ain't got no dog in whatever fight is going on."

The blog roll is a separate and unique venue -- an independent list/directory of bloggers who wrote tributes to the 2,996 victims on 9-11. It is a group of links -- commemorating the efforts of approx. 3000 bloggers who honored those lost on 9-11.

What a shame if participants begin to delete tributes from their blogs or disassociate themselves from other tributes .... What a sad, crying shame.

I'll delete blogs from the roll as requested by email. We were told earlier today that the Yahoo group board and site will be deleted soon. This blog roll and its home here will remain, however -- for those who wish to participate and contribute.

Later (when I get to know folks), I plan to invite other members to post here to share updates and information .... including coordination with Dale's project.

Suggestions and ideas are always welcome -- meanwhile, "Let's [blog] roll!"

BERNIE - Thank you so much - one thing I would add to the directions - for the complete idiots out there. Use "copy as plain text" if available. Otherwise the cut & paste doesn't work (at least on my Blogger account)

Blogroll's up on my site, please add me to the blogroll.

Too bad some people are finding reasons to make this about them, and not about the victims.

Regretfully -- my cable connection went bonkers during the storm(s) yesterday, so I'm only able to get to the net at work .... when you-know-who isn't in my office.

I'll try to update the blog roll after work tonite --

I should be back online by the weekend.

Thanks!
